In My Garden II

Artist Statement

Moving decisively past the physical dualities, structural tensions, and heavy contrasts of strength and gentleness that defined his previous work, In My Garden II marks a profound evolution in the artist’s creative journey, approaching the natural landscape not as a physical entity to be observed, but as a deeply personal psychological sanctuary. In this expansive new series, the traditional floral form is deliberately and completely stripped of its physical weight, mass, and rigid boundaries. What remains is an ethereal essence, gracefully transforming the blossoms into minimalist gestures, fluid calligraphic lines, and vast, expansive fields of luminous color that seem to extend far beyond the edges of the canvas.

By consciously trading the thick, aggressive textures and heavily layered, sculptural mediums of his earlier exhibitions for quiet, seamless gradients and vast stretches of open space, this new body of work intentionally creates a profound sense of visual breathing room for the viewer. The canvas ceases to be a crowded marketplace of competing forces and instead becomes an inviting, meditative void. Through this minimalist lens, the series explores the concept of the garden not as an external, objective subject to be analyzed, but as a safe, sacred internal landscape and a profoundly tranquil state of mind. Ultimately, In My Garden II serves as a visual refuge from the noise and chaos of the modern world, inviting the audience to step into a quiet realm of introspection, emotional clarity, and spiritual stillness.
